On February 28, San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee and Supervisor Katy Tang introduced new legislation aimed at encouraging the uptake of electric vehicles (EVs) in their city. The “EV Ready” ordinance will require all new buildings and major retrofit projects in San Francisco to have a certain level of EV charging infrastructure. The 2017 All-electric VW e-Golf Has 50% More Range

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released details for Volkswagen’s 2017 all-electric e-Golf. Thanks to the new model’s ~50% larger capacity 35.8 kWh battery, the e-Golf now has an EPA-estimated range of 125 miles (201 km). Further, the EPA has estimated an annual recharging cost of $550 (based on an electricity price of 13 c/kWh). On February 22, Volkswagen of America released these details in a press release. Tesla Model 3 on Target for Volume Production by September

On Wednesday February 22, Tesla released its fourth quarter & full year 2016 update and also held a Q&A webcast. It was revealed that the highly anticipated Model 3 is on track for initial limited production in July, with all related sourcing currently on target. Volume production of the Model 3 is scheduled to begin by September, with production anticipated to steadily ramp up to exceed 5,000 vehicles per week at some point in the fourth quarter of 2017 and up to 10,000 vehicles per week at some point in 2018.
