$20M Kansas-Missouri Electric Vehicle Charging Network Nears Completion

The $20 million Clean Charge Network is now 85% complete — 850 of the planned 1,000 charging stations have been installed across the Greater Kansas City region. The project is an initiative of investor-owned Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) who has partnered with companies at host locations. The Clean Charge Network represents the largest electric vehicle (EV) charging station installation by an electric utility in the United States. The charging stations used are manufactured by ChargePoint, which has more than 20,000 charging spots in North America and operates the world’s largest EV charging network. GM, Toyota, Volvo & Lyft Urge US Federal Government to Standardise Self-driving Vehicle Regulations

On February 14, General Motors, Toyota, Volvo and ridesharing company Lyft provided testimonies to the Energy & Commerce Committee urging expedition of laws which would standardise testing and deployment of self-driving vehicles. Although the US Department of Transportation (DOT) implemented some standardisation back in September 2016, regulations differ from state to state. Daimler Makes Smart Move in North America — Gasoline-powered Option Retired Come Fall

In a letter to dealers (reviewed by Reuters) the head of Mercedes-Benz USA — Dietmar Exler — outlined that sales of Smart cars powered by internal combustion engines would cease in North America when the 2017 model year ends this coming fall.
