Tesla Model 3 on Target for Volume Production by September

On Wednesday February 22, Tesla released its fourth quarter & full year 2016 update and also held a Q&A webcast. It was revealed that the highly anticipated Model 3 is on track for initial limited production in July, with all related sourcing currently on target. Volume production of the Model 3 is scheduled to begin by September, with production anticipated to steadily ramp up to exceed 5,000 vehicles per week at some point in the fourth quarter of 2017 and up to 10,000 vehicles per week at some point in 2018. Tesla to Begin Short Pre-production Model 3 Run Towards the End of February

It’s both an exciting and stressful time for Tesla with the planned launch of its third-generation all-electric vehicle — the Model 3 — later this year. To ensure fruition, Tesla plans to halt regular production of the Model S and Model X at its Fremont factory towards the end of February with the aim of producing a small batch of Model 3s.
